Regional Contributions
NEG Group operates its plants and offices in a number of locations, both inside and outside Japan, including Shiga Prefecture, where NEG commenced its business and currently operates several major plants.
We are contributing to local communities by creating economic benefits and job opportunities through our business activities. Our group companies also contribute to their respective local communities in various ways, such as through voluntary cleaning work along the streets in their vicinities, planting seasonal flower seedlings in areas adjacent to each plant/office, and continued exchange and interaction with local residents.
Moreover, we help develop promising future leaders who will work in their local communities. In 2007, with the University of Shiga Prefecture we concluded the “comprehensive agreement on promoting cooperation in industry-academia partnership.” On the basis of this agreement, we have engaged in various collaborative projects, such as establishing an endowment course at the university, joint research in glass engineering, technological exchange and cooperation in the development of human resources who will sustain the future of our society.
Providing Employment Opportunities
NEG Group strives to expand employment opportunities for people with disabilities by developing appropriate job types for employees of all abilities. In 1980, we established a subsidiary (“specially designated subsidiary company”) specifically intended for more active employment of people with disabilities · the sixth company established for this purpose in Japan and we have been involved in continuous efforts to promote the employment of people with disabilities.
In consequence of these efforts, the number of employees with disabilities in our group, as a portion of our entire workforce, is currently well above the statutory rate prescribed by related laws.(*) However, in addition to pursuing numerical improvement, we will intensify our efforts to enhance the working environment for employees with disabilities, and create workplaces in which all employees can experience the joy of work, regardless of their ability level.
