Glass for Plasma Display Panels (PDPs)
NEG develops and provides substrate glass and glass pastes for PDPs, which are increasingly used in FPDs along with LCDs.
Substrate Glass for PDPs
Substrate glass is used in both the front and the back of a plasma display television panel. NEG develops and provides PDP substrate glass with a high strain point that has higher thermal dimensional stability than window glass, making it capable of enduring high temperatures in the panel manufacturing process. For PDP front glass substrates, we apply an ITO layer to glass sheets for transparent electrodes.
Glass Pastes for PDPs
Various glass pastes made from powder glass are used to make barrier ribs that form pixels, dielectric layers, and electrode protective layers. NEG is using its extensive powder glass technologies to develop lead-free glass and meet other advanced requirements of PDP manufacturers.
Glass for Exhaust Tubes, Tablets, and Firing Setters
NEG produces exhaust tubes that are used in the display panel manufacturing process and tablets (products made from powder glass that are fired and molded) to seal exhaust tubes to the rear portions of substrate glass. Neoceram N-0, an ultra heat-resistant glass-ceramic that has high thermal stability, is used in firing setters necessary in the panel firing process.
