Glass for Optical Devices
Optical devices are vital for sending and recording large volumes of data, and NEG's products and materials provide the advanced support necessary in this area.
Glass Ferrules and Micro Capillaries for Optical Connectors
NEG offers various types of glass ferrules for use in connecting optical networks and glass capillaries for use in optical network modules. In order to precisely connect the cores of optical fibers in which optical signals are transmitted, these products require high precision on the submicron level. These high precision glass products are made using NEG’s leading technology.
Glass Material for Aspherical Lenses
Micro preform is optical glass produced with precision processing. It is used as a preformed glass material for aspherical lenses in digital still cameras and other products. Our half ball lens (photo: front left) with a hemispheric shape is used in optical heads of next-generation optical disk devices.
Collimator Components
NEG’s collimator components contribute to the miniaturizing of optical devices and allow for lower costs. They also have excellent features that are not seen in conventional models such as higher optical performance (insertion loss and reflectance loss).
Micro Prisms
Micro prisms are made from optical glass that has undergone ultra-precision processing for use in optical pickups and optical communication components. NEG produces ultra-small prisms with sides measuring from 0.5 to 2.0 mm.
Coupler Housing
Neoceram is a glass-ceramic that exhibits almost zero heat expansion, making it comparable with silica glass. Coupler housing is produced with high precision using Neoceram. Both transparent N-0 Neoceram and opaque N-11 Neoceram are available.
