“Invisible Glass”

Nippon Electric Glass has developed invisible glass consisting of anti-reflecting coatings formed on both sides of extremely Ultra Thin Glass. These coatings minimize light reflected from the glass. In contrast with the luminous reflectance of bare glass, which is approximately 8%, that of the invisible glass is only 0.2%. The anti-reflecting coatings have been designed to especially reduce visible light reflection to the human eye.
Though an ordinary anti-reflecting coating has 5 to 8 layers, the coatings formed on both sides
of the invisible glass total 30 or more layers. The thicknesses of the layers of anti-reflecting coatings are precisely controlled at the nanometer level.
The invisible glass is a masterpiece of Nippon Electric Glass’s ultra-thin glass manufacturing technology and superior thin film design/control technology.
