Ultra-thin glass G-Leaf™

State-of-the-art devices with NEG

G-Leaf™ ultra-thin glass overturns glass stereotypes

NEGfs G-Leaf™ ultra-thin glass unleashes new potential for glass.

Most people think that glass is transparent and
unbending. But glass is actually very versatile:
it can be processed into various shapes and sizes;
it has gas barrier properties so it is impervious to
air and water; and it is heat resistant. It is used in a
multitude of places, from household windows and
kitchen utensils to the highly advanced fields of
telecommunication and aerospace.
We are developing new technologies that
will put those qualities to use in an ever-broader
range of applications, enrich lifestyles, and make
a genuine contribution to society.
One major focus of our efforts is the pursuit of
thinness. Thinner glass offers new value by making
glass lighter and flexible enough to be rolled up like
film. we continue to develop new uses for thin
glass, such as flexible displays and organic light -
emitting diodeiOLEDj lighting.

G-Leaf™: the state-of-the-art glass so thin itfs measured in micrometers

G-Leaf™ is the NEG name for ultra-thin glass with a thickness of 200m (0.2mm) or less. The name is derived from a desire to create a green, environmentally friendly glass that is as thin and light as a leaf.

Environmentally friendly Weight-saving thinness Conserves energy and resources Innovative new functionality flexible enough to be rolled like film

it can be rolled.

Breakthrough qualities applicable to many fields

G-Leaf™ ultra-thin glass is truly innovative: not only is it light, but it is also so smooth and pliable it can be rolled up. Still, G-Leaf™ has all of the qualities typical of glass; it has optical and gas-barrier properties, and is weather and heat resistant. We hope G-Leaf™ will contribute to the evolution of technologies and products across a breadth of fields.
Moreover, G-Leaf™ takes only minimal materials to manufacture and can be transported in compact rolls, so it saves on resources and energy and reduces costs.

Overflow process improves ultra-thin glass

Overflow process gives glass new value
Overflow process gives glass new value

The overflow process helps make glass thinner;
it is the process that enables stable production of G-Leaf™ ultra-thin glass with all its superlative qualities. This methodfs greatest feature is its ability to produce extremely smooth and even glass that requires no polishing, because only air touches the glass surface.
Our refined manufacturing technologies have resulted in the worldfs thinnest glass - just 35m micrometers thick.

Thinner, lighter, more flexible glass for the future

We develop and test G-Leaf™ ultra-thin glass for use in some of the most talked-about next-generation technologies such as OLED and flexible displays. Ultra-thin glass is the ideal material for protecting humidity-sensitive OLED elements and maximizing their advantages.
Meanwhile, in energy and other fields, we aim to sell G-Leaf™ as the solution to issues that film and other materials cannot resolve, and a means to achieve more advanced technologies and products.
We are determined that G-Leaf™ will contribute to a future society that is environmentally and user friendly by expanding the scope of its uses to electronic paper, touch-panel displays, electronic billboards, and beyond.
