Solar Power Generation Facility Begins Operation at Xiamen Site in China
– Reduce CO₂ Emissions by Approximately 2,350 Tons Annually–
Nippon Electric Glass Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Otsu, Shiga, Japan; President: Akira Kishimoto; “NEG”) has installed a solar power generation facility on the rooftop of its subsidiary, Electric Glass (Xiamen) Co., Ltd. (Location: Xiamen, Fujian, China; General Manager: Takahide Fujii; “EGX”), and began operations in April 2026.
The facility has a maximum output of approximately 5.8 MWp※. The annual power generation is expected to account for about several percent of EGX’s electricity consumption and is projected to reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 2,350 tons per year.
※ MWp (megawatt-peak): Watt-peak is an indicator of rated output for power generation methods with variable output. It represents the maximum output that the facility can theoretically achieve under certain standard conditions.
Background and Future Initiatives
The NEG Group is working to reduce CO₂ emissions at its sites in Japan and overseas with the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.The Group is also systematically introducing solar power generation facilities across these sites, and the installation at EGX is part of this initiative. By utilizing the generated electricity on-site, the Group will promote energy conservation and reduce CO₂ emissions. The NEG Group will continue to promote the use of renewable energy.
